With temperatures dropping and light displays on the streets, you’ll surely be primed to plunge into the Christmas spirit with a spot of culture. Islington has lots to offer this year.

Union Chapel is putting on a suite of musical events, including A Festive Evening with Jacob Collier (12 December), Britten and Bach at Christmas (15 December) and Carols by Candlelight (22 December).

Meanwhile, St Mary’s Church on Upper Street is also hosting several classical concerts, including Four Seasons by Candlelight (21 December) and Magical Mozart by Candlelight (28 December).

For dance, there is Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, which runs at Sadler’s Wells until 26 January.

Seasonal theatre includes Cinderella at the King’s Head Theatre (until 4 January) and Gwyneth Goes Skiing at the Pleasance (11-21 December).

The Little Angel Theatre is also putting on two festive productions: Rosie Robin and the Christmas Post (until 5 January) and The Singing Mermaid (until 26 January).

Then to walk off festive indulgences, you can take a Yuletide walking tour of Victorian Islington on 21 December.
