Junction by-election: Seven candidates vie for seat vacated by former council leader

The nominated candidates for the upcoming Junction ward by-election have been announced.

The by-election is to take place on Thursday 28 November 2024, and was triggered by the resignation of former council leader Kaya Comer-Schwartz.

The seven candidates to fill her seat are, in alphabetical order:

Jackson Caines, Islington Independents

Rebecca Jones, Liberal Democrats

Bill Martin, The Socialist Party of Great Britain

Devon Osborne, Green Party

Brian Potter, Independent

James Potts, Labour

John Wilkin, Conservative Party

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Tuesday, 12 November 2024. Applications can be made online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, Room G04, Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 2UD by 5pm on Wednesday 13 November 2024. You may apply online or download a form at gov.uk/apply-postal-vote or contact the Electoral Registration Office direct.

Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (free voter ID), or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, Room G04, Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 2UD by 5pm on Wednesday 20 November 2024.

New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 2UD by 5pm on Wednesday 20 November 2024.
